OUR LITTLE HOUSE on the PRAIRIE

As the morning awakened to the beauty of what the storm left behind.

HELLO SPRING ??

We are still waiting for Spring to arrive in Central Minnesota. We had a rather bad storm come through yesterday and last night. I believe we had about 12 inches of blowing snow fall. This Spring snow is good snowman and snowball making snow. Usually the temperature is so cold we get light and fluffy powder snow. I took a few pictures of my front door and walkway as my hubby went out to use the snowblower , a very smart buy and gift for Christmas this year. This is the first one we have owned . We have been in our new house a little over a year and are slowly getting all the supplies one needs to make it through the winters here. This is the worst or should I say most snow ever in the month of April. I have lived here almost 13 years. The only other time we had a lot of snow was when my son was in Iraq. The first wave of the war he was fighting sand storms we were fighting snow storms. We may bypass Spring this year and go directly into Summer. Last year we had a few 80 degree days this time of year. I guess we can still dream of warmer days. Maybe I will set out the bird feeder. I saw a few robins struggling in the snow and thought" how do they find food with frozen ground and so much snow"?i hope to be setting up my garden soon. HAPPY SPRING!!

MOVING DAY

My husbands sister had a house built a few blocks away from ours we helped with the move. We moved most of the big stuff. We are all over the age of 50 so moving takes a few days. The little stuff will be moved between snow storms. YES I said snow storms we are getting another 6-8 inches between today and tomorrow. I do believe Spring will physically not be here this year. We will go directly to Summer. Such is life in the upper Midwest We now have my son and his family 3 blocks west and my sister in laws 3 blocks north. Hopefully we will get in the yard soon and see if any plants died. Happy Spring!!

SPRING BLIZZARD

This is a long winter year. Just as almost all the snow was gone and I could see my plants we had a spring blizzard. This morning it was almost a whiteout. I think we got about 9 inches of wet heavy snow. Minnesota winter snow is light and fluffy not to hard to shovel. I could barely get the snowblower to blow this stuff. I am not complaining. After 13 years of mixed weather I am learning to roll with the seasons. I do feel sorry for my son and husband as they are mail carriers and it is a very tuff day for them. The snowplow still has not passed through our neighborhood. Do you think they put them away for summer storage? I enjoyed a cup of coffee this morning while I watched the snow blow across the prairie. It won't be long before summer heat and humidity are pulling us inside to air conditioning to find some relief. I am finding enjoyment in each season. They all have their own kind of beauty.
HAPPY SPRING!!

A DAY at GRAMMY'S

I have been watching a couple of my GRANDKIDS on Tuesday's for the last few months. My Grandson takes Karate classes near my home and it is easier for my daughter to pick them up here after work then go all the way back 20 miles to pick them up at daycare near her home. It is still very cold today snow is almost gone but so windy today we had to stay inside. We also expect 5-10 inches of snow over the next couple of days. It was not a good day to be outside sooo... We got creative first we played in the garage but when it got to cold we came inside. Master H loves to ride around the table so Grammy let him if he was careful and he was. Miss H played cowgirl and let her horse eat from the chalkboard tray. I so enjoyed watching them play and be creative. They finally got tired so naps were in order. I love being a grandma!!

CHANGES

Just a few changes around the house. When you can't move the furniture around you have to be creative so I moved pictures. The one behind the sofa was above the TV center. We really like it here and the tree picture went above the TV. I had two of the grand babies on Tuesday. Miss H is a curious two year old. She likes to play with the buttons on the fireplace stove. We do not encourage this and usually have to unplug it so she will stop. She somehow broke the on off switch so grandpa went out and got an electric fireplace that was on a really good sale. We like it!
