COOKING LESSONS

Ellie loves to cook at Grammys so on the last day of babysitting we made chocolate chip cookies using the mini chips. I like these for toddlers, no big chucks of chocolate to get all over them. She is almost 3 and when we checked the oven to see how a batch of cookies was doing she says to me" Grammy those aren't done yet" I had to laugh she was right

A DAY AT THE ZOO

We went to the zoo with my son and his family and my daughter and her 2 kids. It was hot and humid but still fun. I have been sick for 7 days. The grand kids had a really bad virus and they shared it with me. I need to be well soon my other daughter is coming for a visit and there is lots to do.

SURPRISE VISITOR

Guess who came for a surprise visit on my Anniversary

My sister in law Kathy and she was the best present although she didn't get to stay long

She was headed to Walker MN with her sister and so we went up there the next day
I was waitng for my son to call telling me my grandaughter Ellie was awake from her nap and would I come over with the new wagon we just pruchased. The phone rang and to my surprise it was my sister in law Kathy some of you know her from her Blog Spot on  Cedar Pond. I think I cried I was so excited. She was on her way to Walker MN with her sister Joanne who was doing a seminar at Chase On the Lake Resort( beautiful place) They only had a short time to visit at our Little House but we made plans to visit her the next day. I packed a picnic lunch and headed North it is a beautiful drive and we saw lots of Eagles on the way up. We visited for a few hours and had a picnic lunch. She told us about Geo Cache which my husband logged onto and while we were there we went looking, because of weather we were unable to complete the find, but plan to go back and see if we can find it. What a treat to have a visitor from home. Kathy is the first person from home to visit our Little House. My sister was out last March but we had not bought this house yet.
I am getting ready to host my daughter and her family in a few weeks. I hope you made it home safe Kathy and Joanne the weather was rather wicked this morning but got better through out the day.
I really don't like surprises as a rule but this one I loved. I usually like to prepare something special for my visitors but it didn't seem to matter we had a great visit. Thank you Joanne for bringing her.

Here I am on the morning of my birth 56 years ago today. I am unable to sleep and thought what a great time to blog...Sitting here with a cup of Chamomile Tea and reflecting on years passed. It has been 6 months in the new house and things are slowly coming together. I am going around the house today and taking pictures, which I will share later, The Washington grandkids are coming for their annual visit. This will be the first time for the four kids to see the new house. My daughter, their mother, came in February with  new baby Luke. I was rushing around yesterday washing sheets and making beds trying to make everything look as good as possible. I am not finished with any of the rooms but hopefully they come to visit their grandpa and me not the house. If you have visited before you have noticed we replaced a lot of the bushes outside and am working on flower beds etc. There is so much to do but I have a lifetime to get it done and am learning to take one day at a time and let God lead. I guess I was trying to control things more than I realized and now giving that over to God has been a burden lifted. I still need to take one day at a time but things are more hopeful than before and God has a better plan than I for his children and mine. I will be back with pictures later. THANKS FOR THE VISIT!

I am working on the North side of the house

I am planting 2 red rhododendrons

2 blueberry plants under the living room windows

2 new planters, ferns and bird bath

orange flower azalea

red flowers and smaller leaves

my friend THOR he lights up at night

another azalea with white flowers that have yellow middles
aziatic lilly but it was pink I wanted orange or yellow and a present from my neighbor across the street

south west side by the garage is going to be an Herb Garden( I hope)

lavender I hope it grows into a hedge (English)

Provence Lavender

Rosemary (this may not make the harsh winters but I am giving it a try)
The grass has to be removed from the side of the house and here in the Herb garden but I am old now and can only do a little at a time. This is the job for next week when hubby will be home to help me. I have lots of pain in my right side from my feet to my neck so things move at a much slower pace. We have a very small yard and lots of ideas which I hope to acomplish next year when I have more money. Some things will be a deck on the back, a firepit, patio furniture and a shed. It may be necessary to put up some kind of fenching because the yards are close but we can't agree on what type yet. Lots of things to look forward to hope you enjoy and please come for a visit if your in the area. We love company!
